West Virginia RB CJ Donaldson plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

ESPN’s Max Olson reported his intentions to enter on Thursday.

Donaldson had spent the past three seasons with the Mountaineers. While in Morgantown, Donaldson appeared in 31 games with the double-digit starts at running back.

In those collegiate appearances, Donaldson has had 399 rushes for 1,975 yards and 28 touchdowns. That had him being second amongst their backs in each of the last three seasons for West Virginia behind Tony Mathis Jr. in 2022 and then Jaheim White in 2023 and 2024. However, Donaldson was more productive than both at times as he had almost as much yardage and more scores in less carries than Mathis while White only had him in yardage the past two seasons as he had more carries and rushing scores than him.

Donalson has also caught 30 passes for 179 yards and an additional score.

Donaldson, a native of Miami, played high school football at Gulliver Prep in Pinecrest. He was the No. 855 overall recruit there as a three-star prospect in the 2022 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also, at the time, rated as the No. 51 TE and the No. 114 player out of Florida.

Now, upon his entry, Donaldson will be the latest player to enter the portal from WVU. LB Josiah Trotter (Missouri) along with RB Jaylen Anderson, IOLs Bryce Biggs and Sullivan Weidman, CB Josiah Jackson, and DB Raleigh Collins III are already transferring from the program. WR Ric’Darious Farmer is also planning on doing so per reports this morning as well. This also comes following their bowl loss this week and during the coaching transition from Neal Brown back to Rich Rodriguez.
