The West Virginia Mountaineers currently sit at 3-3 overall and this weekend they’ll travel to Lubbock, Texas to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who also sit at 3-3 overall. The Red Raiders feature the nation’s second-ranked passing attack (365 yards per game) and West Virginia will need to figure out how they’re going to counter that on Saturday. Check out the epic uniforms the Mountaineers will be wearing this weekend–with some of the coolest helmets they’ve ever put on.

The helmets alone make these uniforms some of the best the Mountaineers have ever put on. There’s something about the outline of the state of West Virginia with their logo on it that just works incredibly well. The navy and yellow colors work remarkably well together and whoever designed the helmets definitely needs to take a bow, because these things are beautiful.

West Virginia welcomes back their superstar tailback

The good news for West Virginia fans is they’ll welcome back one of the best tailbacks in the country in freshman superstar C.J. Donaldson. He’s suffered a number of injuries this season, but when he’s been healthy and in the lineup, the electrifying tailback has carried the Mountaineer offense on his back. In three of five games he’s played in, Donaldson has rushed for over 100 yards. The talented freshman has already rushed for 389 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. West Virginia will need all the offense they can get on Saturday, since they face one of the nation’s top passing attacks.

The Mountaineers also welcome back defensive back Charles Woods. He was a preseason first team All-Big 12 selection coming into the 2022-2023 season and his return could not come at a better time. He’s expected to be back, although in a limited role, according to reports. He suffered an ankle injury against Pittsburgh in WVU’s season opener. WVU corner Wesley McCormick will be a game-time decision. He left the Baylor game last weekend in the first quarter after he landed awkwardly making a tackle.

West Virginia faces Texas Tech on Saturday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 PM EST. The game will be televised on Fox Networks.
