Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star running back Byron Louis will take an official visit to Wisconsin from June 7-9, per his social media.

Wisconsin joins an official visit schedule that already includes trips to Miami (May 31) and Ohio State (June 14).

Louis previewed an unofficial visit to Wisconsin at the end of January with On3.

“That’s RBU,” Louis told On3. “They’re going to run the ball. With (head) coach (Luke) Fickell’s offense, they run a lot of spread, so that lightens the load on the running backs. Now, all they need is a quarterback to complement that offense and Wisconsin is going to be back.”

Ohio State, Miami and Michigan among those battling for Louis

Louis visited Ohio State once again earlier this week.

“My biggest takeaways from the visit was that Ohio State is ready to compete on all levels,” Louis told On3. “They are working very hard and I can see why they are considered elite.”

New running backs coach Carlos Locklyn made a quick impression on Louis.

“Me and Coach Locklyn hit it off really well,” Louis said. “I quickly saw how intentional he is about all the details and how his knowledge and passion for the game was so valuable.”

The Hurricanes have become a major factor in his recruitment as a Miami-area prospect, and he has lots of ties to the program in Coral Gables. Mario Cristobal and Co. also recently brought in a new running backs coach, and Louis’ visit at the end of March was his first chance to meet him in person.

“We talked a lot prior to (the visit) – honestly there was nothing but good energy and good vibes,” Louis told CaneSport. “But I got to see a different side of him (Merritt) today while they were practicing. He just wants nothing but the best for his guys, and I really do appreciate that, because he’s not going to just let you do whatever or BS him. You’re going to get the real him.”

Michigan is a new factor as well in the recruitment with Alford, Ohio State’s former running backs coach, jumping to the Wolverines this offseason. The two have remained in contact, and Alford extended him an offer soon after he got to Ann Arbor.

“Coach Alford is a great guy,” Louis told TheWolverine.com. “I know he can develop me to be great at the next level.”
