According to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, there will be no suspension for Wisconsin Badgers head coach Greg Gard following Sunday’s incident. He and Michigan head coach Juwan Howard during the handshake line before tensions grew and the two teams began to push and shove. However, Gard will be facing a $10,000 fine

Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft, who was on the receiving end of a punch from Howard, will not be suspended or fined either.

Three players will be missing game time as well for their involvement. Michigan’s Moussa Diabate and Terrance Williams and Wisconsin’s Jahcobi Neath will all be out for one game. The Wolverines play host to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights while the Badgers travel to Minnesota. Both games will occur on Wednesday night.

As for Howard, he will be facing a five-game suspension and will not be on the Michigan sideline for the rest of the regular season. His fine will be more substantial than Gard, coming in at $40,000.

Kendrick Perkins calls out Wisconsin HC Greg Gard

While most of the heat has been directed toward Howard, ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins decided to call out Gard as well. He said the Wisconsin head coach instigated the incident by pulling Howard back into the handshake line when the two shared words.

While he did not clear the Michigan head coach of guilt, Perkins wanted to make sure Gard was getting some criticism as well.

“Then Greg Gard, he goes into the post-game interview, and he’s still saying, he’s not showing no type of accountability as well, when he knew what he was doing,” stated Perkins. “He threw the line out there in the water, he had the shrimp on the hook, he set his reel and Juwan Howard took the bait. It’s instigating at it’s finest.

“He know that Juwan Howard was mad, why even go over, trying to talk to the man? Now, I’m not saying that Juwan Howard was right. He should never throw a punch. He is a leader of men, he has to lead by example. We’re talking about a guy who had a helluva NBA career. A Michigan legend. Fab Five. All that and across the board. But both of these guys played a part in this.

“Let’s not let Greg Gard off the hook. He played a huge role in instigating, and being petty as well.”
