Jim Leonhard clarifies transferring OL Logan Brown was dismissed from Wisconsin
On Thursday, Wisconsin interim head coach Jim Leonhard confirmed to reporters that offensive lineman Logan Brown was dismissed from the program prior to his entrance into the transfer portal on Wednesday.
The lineman, originally from the 2019 signing class, announced his intent to transfer but Leonhard says an “internal incident” led to the team dismissing him. He appeared in all 13 games last season and was a staple of the Wisconsin offensive line.
“The reality of what happened is that there was an internal incident here within the program and Logan Brown was dismissed from the program,” Leonhard said. “It was not a choice. He was dismissed from the program.”
Brown is the second Badger to hit the transfer portal since the firing of head coach Paul Chryst. Quarterback Deacon Hill is also leaving the program. Hill, a redshirt freshman out of Santa Barbara, California, posted on Twitter on Oct. 9 that he intended to enter the portal. He had thrown just one pass as the backup behind quarterback Graham Mertz.

Brown enters transfer portal
Earlier this week, Brown posted his brief goodbye to Badgers nation.
“To Wisconsin Football, thank you for the opportunity for the last 4 years,” Brown wrote on Twitter. “I will be entering the transfer portal and will be continuing my academic and football career elsewhere.”
Brown was one of the top offensive linemen coming out of high school, arriving in Madison as a five-star recruit. He was the No. 16 player in the nation from the class of 2019, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Under the new transfer portal rules, players have 30 days after a coaching change to decide if they want to enter the portal. If they don’t enter by the end of that period, they’ll have to wait until the portal window opens next on Dec. 5.
