Bolingbrook (Ill.) wide receiver Kyan Berry-Johnson has announced his commitment to Wisconsin. He chose the Badgers over Cincinnati and Houston among others.

Berry-Johnson is the No. 840 overall prospect and No. 117 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 17 player in Illinois.

“This has been the goal since I first started playing football at 4 years old, from doing push ups and sit ups in my living room with my brother,” Berry-Johnson wrote on Twitter. “With that being said, I will be spending my next three-to-four years at the University of Wisconsin.”

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound wideout has already scheduled an official visit to Madison for the weekend of June 10.

“It just feels good,” Berry-Johnson told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 28 about Wisconsin. “All the coaches are good. I know some of the players. The players are good. They say the new relationships with the coach is very good. I just want to see what that’s like.”

According to Berry-Johnson, he has felt like a priority since new head coach Luke Fickell and his staff took over at Wisconsin. He communicates with multiple Badgers coaches, including wide receivers coach Mike Brown

“I think I can really good be there, fit good there,” Berry-Johnson said. “The receivers coach is good. All the other coaches are good.”

Wisconsin has been successful recently on the recruiting trail

Fickell and Co. now have commitments from seven players. They are Berry-Johnson, Green Bay (Wis.) Bay Port three-star linebacker Landon Gauthier, Algonquin (Ill.) Harry D. Jacobs four-star tight end Grant Stec, Waunakee (Wis.) three-star tight end Rob Booker, The Woodlands (Texas) three-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer, Hartland (Wis.) Arrowhead three-star offensive tackle Derek Jensen and Sioux Falls (S.D.) Jefferson three-star linebacker Thomas Heiberger.

Berry-Johnson, Jensen, Heiberger and Gauthier have all committed to the Badgers since April 2. Meanwhile, Booker and Stec chose Wisconsin over two days at the end of January, and Mettauer pledged to Fickell and Co. on Dec. 24.

Following Berry-Johnson’s commitment, Wisconsin’s 2024 recruiting class is No. 19 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 4 in the Big Ten. That position is in part to having pledges from three of the top seven players in Wisconsin: Gauthier, Jensen and Booker.

At the moment, Stec is the Badgers’ highest-ranked commit as the No. 255 overall prospect and No. 15 tight end in the On3 Industry Ranking.
