WATCH: Wisconsin's Chez Mellusi scores go-ahead touchdown against Purdue
Another Saturday, another low-scoring Big Ten West game. Thankfully for Wisconsin fans, their team is currently on top after a Chez Mellusi touchdown run.
On second-and-six midway through the third quarter, Mellusi broke a tackle and with a couple additional moves, took the ball 20 yards for a score to put the Badgers up 20-13 on Purdue. The run capped off a three-play drive which started with a 70-yard run by Braelon Allen.
Wisconsin’s run game is humming; they have 205 yards on the ground. Allen has six carries for 107 yards, and Mellusi, a Clemson transfer, has 22 carries for 95 yards. Both players have a touchdown, bringing both of their season totals to four touchdowns each.
Quarterback Graham Mertz continues to struggle, as he is 5-for-8 with just 52 yards on the afternoon. Mertz has just two passing touchdowns on the season with seven interceptions.
Both teams are struggling to convert on third down on Saturday; Wisconsin is 1-for-8 while Purdue in 2-for-8.

Purdue is completely unable to get their ground game going against one of the nation’s best run defenses. They have -1 rushing yards on 20 attempts early in the fourth quarter. Entering the game, Wisconsin was allowing just 64.3 yards per game on the ground, which is third in the nation.
Boilermaker star wide receiver David Bell has just four catches for 19 yards after a career day against Iowa last weekend when he had 11 catches for 240 yards and a touchdown. If Bell is held under 100 yards on Saturday, it will be just the second time that has happened this year. Against Notre Dame, Bell had seven catches for 64 yards before being knocked out with a concussion late in that contest.
The Badgers were a 3.5-point favorite in the game with an over/under of 41 points, so the game is largely going as anticipated.
