Wisconsin guard Kamari McGee exits Indiana game with injury in second half
The Wisconsin Badgers were trying to coast to victory against the Indiana Hoosiers on Friday night. The Badgers were up by double digits at home, when Kamari McGee went barreling out of bounds on a play in the second half.
McGee was down on the ground for a few minutes before being helped to the locker room by the Wisconsin training staff. He’s likely finished for the night, and it appeared to be an ankle/foot injury.
Isaac Lindsey got some minutes in his place once McGee left the floor.
The Badgers stretched their lead to 15 points with 2:28 remaining in the game. Indiana tried to make things interesting late, but the Badgers had no trouble holding on for the win. They would cruise to a 91-79 victory. It was the 20th straight home win for Wisconsin over Indiana. It’s currently the longest losing streak for the Hoosiers against any opponent.
Hoosiers guard CJ Gunn was ejected midway through the second half after he elbowed Wisconsin standout Max Klesmit in the jaw. Klesmit had scored 14 straight points for the Badgers.
While the players waited for Wisconsin to inbound the ball, Klesmit leaned over, getting a rest. Evidently, his head was too close for comfort for Gunn. As soon as Gunn made contact with Klesmit, Wisconsin’s bench erupted.

After a short review, Gunn was handed a Flagrant 2 and ejected from the game. As expected, Klesmit drained the two free throws. He finished with 26 points on the night, leading all Wisconsin scorers. At one point, he poured in 20 consecutive points. Klesmit simply could not be stopped in the second half, erupting for 23 of his 26 points. Gunn finished the game with zero points while shooting 0-1 from the field.
Wisconsin finished with four players in double figures (Crowl, Storr, Klesmit, and Blackwell). Indiana had three players in double figures. They were led by their big man, Malik Reneau, who was one of the highest ranked players in America coming out of high school. Reneau finished with 28 points and eight rebounds in the loss for the Hoosiers.
He was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 26 overall player in the nation coming out of Montverde Academy, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2022 cycle.
Indiana dropped to 12-7 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten. Wisconsin improved to 14-4 and 6-1 in the Big Ten.
