Wisconsin receiver Mark Hamper plans to enter NCAA transfer portal

Wisconsin receiver Mark Hamper plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from 247Sports. He will do so without having suited up for the Badgers.
Hamper transferred to Wisconsin following the 2024 season. He had previously spent two years at Idaho.
The talented 6-foot-2, 210-pound receiver had a breakout season in 2024, showing a real knack for making explosive plays. He logged 48 catches for 966 yards and six touchdowns, posting a 20.1 average yards per reception.
“On behalf of our client, Mark Hamper, FLX Sports confirms that Mark has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal,” agent Emily Staker told 247Sports. “We want to express our profound appreciation to the University of Wisconsin, its coaching staff, teammates, and the entire athletic department.
“Mark holds nothing but respect for the program, his coaches, and teammates at Wisconsin. As he now explores new opportunities to continue his development on and off the field, he does so with a deep sense of gratitude for his team in Madison.
“We thank the University of Wisconsin for their support and professionalism throughout this process.”
Mark Hamper had missed several spring practices for Wisconsin in recent days. So his decision comes with relatively little surprise.

Still, it’ll be a stinging loss for coach Luke Fickell and his squad, who had hoped to benefit from Hamper’s big-play ability. But he’s not the only major loss set to take place in the transfer portal.
Cheez-It Bowl MVP plans to enter portal
Another Big Ten program is set to lose a quality player like Mark Hamper. Illinois running back Josh McCray plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He enters after producing a breakout season with the Fighting Illini in 2024.
After racking up 761 yards and four touchdowns in his first three years on campus, McCray nearly produced that in one season alone in 2024. He finished last season with 609 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
McCray also showed some versatility. He caught 13 passes for 116 yards and a score, in addition to his rushing totals.
His versatility and playmaking ability were on full display in the postseason following the 2024 campaign. McCray produced an excellent game in a Cheez-It Citrus Bowl win over South Carolina, rushing for 114 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Now he’ll hit the portal as a coveted option.
