Xavier Basketball: Dailyn Swain commits to Musketeers, Sean Miller
Columbus (Ohio) Africentric Early College four-star recruit Dailyn Swain tells On3 he has committed to Xavier.
Swain, a 6-foot-7, 185-pound class of 2023 small forward, ultimately chose the Musketeers over a final group of Ohio State, Arizona State, Clemson, and Arkansas. He also received offers from Cincinnati, Kansas State, Marquette, Butler, Virginia Tech, and others.
The versatile wing is Xavier’s third commitment to the 2023 class, joining four-star PG Trey Green (No. 66) and four-star SG Reid Ducharme (No. 101).
Swain, a native of Ohio, is the No. 89 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are slightly higher than the industry on Swain, ranking him 80th nationally in the class.

Swain on his commitment to Xavier
“Me choosing Xavier had a lot to do with fit and I wanted to be a part of what Sean Miller is building,” Swain said to On3. “It’s also not too far from home. More things come than just being a basketball player at Xavier. You get other opportunities.”
What type of player is Xavier getting in Dailyn Swain?
“I’m super versatile, a big guard. I can get up and down the floor, attack in transition, get downhill, and just play positionless basketball. Xavier is getting a super tough, super energetic, versatile player that is willing to do whatever. Whether that’s guarding the lead guard, putting me on a bigger body, run the offense. I’m someone that will be a leader on the team.”
Swain has a message for Xavier fans.
“I definitely think we have a statement year coming up. Me, Trey (Green), and Reid (Ducharme) are going to (recruit) some more bigs.”
Scouting Summary
Dailyn Swain is a length guard with a projectable frame. He is comfortable on the ball, initiating in half and full court. Swain sees the floor well and is slippery, in transition, attacking the rim. He is very unselfish; you would almost like to see him be more aggressive in attacking the basket. Swain is also very you for his grade, with an ’05 birthday. He will need to continue adding weight and grow in aggressiveness. There are a lot of tools to like here with some ceiling for continued growth. – On3’s Jamie Shaw, National Recruiting Analyst
