As a College Recruit

Downhill linebacker with good size and straight-line speed. Has starred for one of the top defenses in Texas high school football dating back to his sophomore season. Has possessed readymade size for several years, checking in at around 6-foot-2, 225 pounds with a 32.5-inch arm as a senior. Combines his play speed with a high effort level, resulting in a highly productive player at the high school level. At his best when he can use his closing speed as a blitzer or in pursuit sideline-to-sideline. Shows physicality as a striker. Provides added value as a pass rusher and could be used off the edge in certain situations. Has a penchant for forcing turnovers and looks to strip the football often. Will need to continue improving his skills playing in space and in coverage.

Anthony Hill and Kenneth Murray have similar size, athleticism and play styles at the same stage. Both checked in at around 6-foot-2, 220-230 pounds with good athleticism as high school prospects. Both are at their best as a downhill linebacker who can disrupt as a blitzer and pass rusher in addition to making plays as a pursuit defender. Hill is a more touted high school prospect than Murray at the same stage.

Anthony Hill sound in the middle for Denton Ryan

Sam SpiegelmanNational Recruiting Analyst

Five-star Denton (Texas) Ryan LB Anthony Hill Jr. returned to action against Aledo in a hard-fought clash of Dallas Metroplex titans. Hill, playing through injury, piled up 18 tackles and was a force in the middle of Ryan’s defense. One of the most college-ready players at any position in this 2023 cycle, the Texas A&M commit plays downhill to clog running lanes and showed his range at 220 pounds patrolling out to the sidelines. Hill provides flexibility as a pass-rusher up the middle and off the edge and has the necessary high motor to be a driving force of a defensive unit. In six games, Hill has collected 67 tackles. When healthy, he should provide some more fireworks for Ryan on the offensive side of the ball during their postseason run.
