Anthony Lucas Scouting Summary

Charles Power

10/27/21

A long, strong and fluid athlete with unique dimensions. Sports massive hands and a 7-foot wing span at 6-foot-4.5, 290 pounds. Has rare fluidity and movement skills at his size. Is light-footed and moves quickly. Shows some natural pass rush skills that are not common with bigger defensive linemen. Has the ability to dip and bend in addition to turning speed into power. Also shows his athleticism as a pass catcher on offense. Not as productive as several other highly-ranked defensive linemen. Often draws double teams but could stand to be more physical and active on a snap to snap basis. Very young for the cycle with an October birthday and could technically be a 2023 prospect.

Anthony Lucas evaluation at Under Armour All-America Game

1/02/22

Anthony Lucas was among the several Aggie signees in Orlando. The Arizona product can be a frustrating evaluation at times. Lucas is among the more physically-gifted prospects in the cycle. He has an outstanding frame with advanced flexibility and athleticism. With that said, Lucas has a tendency fade into the background both in games and in this all-star practice setting. We didn’t see Lucas take a ton of reps over the first few days at Under Armour. Then he comes out has one of the more impressive reps of the week, beating Alabama signee Tyler Booker in a 1-on-1. The physical gifts are obvious, but Lucas will need to improve his play personality to maximize the ability.

Anthony Lucas is a long, strong and quick athlete at 6-foot-4.5, 290 pounds. The Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral product has some unique fluidity and movement skills for a defensive lineman of his size. He’s already shown some pass rush polish and tallied 15.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks as a junior. We’ve also seen Lucas play some offense as a running back and receiver and make some impressive plays. He was even flashing that athleticism in 7-on-7 play this offseason.
