Personal Life
Austin Reed was unranked coming out of St. Augustine (Florida) High School in the 2018 recruiting class. He originally signed with Southern Illinois. But he then transferred to West Florida, where he led the Argonauts to a Division II national title in 2019. He threw for 4,084 yards and 40 touchdowns. Reed contemplated staying at West Florida after signing a NIL deal with a local business, but he elected to test the transfer waters and ended up picking Western Kentucky over BYU. Reed spent the 2022 season with the Hilltoppers. In that one season, he put up massive numbers, throwing for 4,249 yards and 36 touchdowns. He not only ranked second in passing yards but was also second in touchdown passes and second in completions (353). After the successful 2022 season, Reed entered the Transfer Portal. A few days later, he reversed course and announced he was returning to Western Kentucky.
