Personal Life
Bryce Ford-Wheaton is the latest in the line of dynamic offensive skill positions for West Virginia. His grandfather, Garrett Ford Sr., was the first player to ever rush for 1,000 yards in a season and break the 2,000-yard career plateau. He was a second-team All-American in 1966. He returned to West Virginia after one season in the AFL and became the first African American assistant coach in school history. Ford-Wheaton’s uncle, Garrett Ford Jr., was also a running back and played for the team from 1989-1992. He became the first running back to rush for 100-plus yards in his West Virginia debut. Ford-Wheaton is the son of Keith Wheaton and Tracie Ford. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management in December 2021. Ford-Wheaton is also the first player in school history to wear the No. 0.
