Personal Life
For the longest time, Byron Murphy thought he would make his money running over defenders. “I always thought I was going to be a running back in the National Football League,” Murphy told The Dallas Morning News. “That’s where my heart is. I used to love watching Adrian Peterson, and I used to love Marshawn Lynch. I used to try to model my game after them.” Instead, he ended up developing into one of the most dominating interior defensive linemen in the 2023 and 2023 college football seasons at Texas. In 2023, he was named a 2023 second-team All-American by the Associated Press and Sporting News and was the 2023 Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year. “With my style of play, I feel like nobody can play like me,” he said. “Nobody can do the things I do. I feel like I’m one of a kind. My tape speaks for itself.”
