As a Recruit
Personal Life
After playing only one year of high school football, Chandler Zavala was unranked as a recruit coming out of Woodbridge (Virginia) Forest Park High School. He originally signed with Ferris State in 2017 and put on more than 60 pounds after arriving in college. He was a two-year starter at left guard and played in 23 games at Ferris State between 2017 and 2019. He was a first-team All-MEC pick in 2019 after earning honorable mention All-America honors in 2018. He was the first offensive lineman from Ferris State to earn that type of recognition since 1994. He transferred to NC State in June 2021 and worked his way to a starting spot. However, he injured his back and missed the last seven games of the season after undergoing surgery. He was granted a sixth year of eligibility for the 2022 season at NC State.
