Personal Life
Charlie Jones was an On3 Consensus three-star recruit coming out of Deerfield (Illinois) High School in the Class of 2017. He originally signed with Buffalo out of high school and played in the 2018 season. Jones then transferred to Iowa and sat out the entire 2019 season. He returned to action in 2020 and was an honorable mention All-American and All-Big Ten pick as a special teams performer for the Hawkeyes. His success carried over to 2021 at Iowa, where he won the Reggie Roby Special Teams and Brett Greenwood awards for his play as a punt returner. He also started multiple games for the Hawkeyes at receiver. Jones transferred to Purdue for the 2022 season and made an immediate impact for the Boilermakers. In the season-opening game against Penn State, Jones had 12 receptions for 153 yards and a touchdown. He also had three kickoff returns for 43 yards. Through three games in 2022, he has nearly 500 receiving yards.
