Christopher Vizzina Scouting Summary

Charles Power

3/03/22

Quarterback with translatable tools and the best feet among top signal callers in the 2023 cycle. Has ideal size at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. Consistently shows twitchy, explosive movements in his lower body. Plays with outstanding feet and has some of, if not the best pocket movement and awareness of top quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle. A loose, athletic mover. Comfortable stepping up into the pocket or moving outside to escape pressure. Shows a strong arm in game and camp settings. Primarily delivers from the same arm slot on most passes. Was among the more efficient passers among top 2023 quarterbacks as a junior, though he did not have quite the number of attempts as many others. Has the burst and top-end play speed to present a considerable run threat, rushing for 15 touchdowns as a junior. Shows the speed to pull away against one of the faster high school teams in the Southeast. Plays against some of the stronger competition among top quarterbacks nationally. Still relatively new to the position after starting to play quarterback as a 9th grader. Also significantly younger than many other top quarterbacks with an April birthday.

Christopher Vizzina shows physical skills at Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game

12/10/22

Clemson quarterback commit Christopher Vizzina showed the arm and physical skill set that made hm a national recruit at the position over the course of the week at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game. The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder made a number of nice downfield throws on Tuesday night and continued to show the ability to drive the football vertically on Wednesday. It was tough sledding for the Alabama offense as a unit on Wednesday and Vizzina was under siege for much of the practice. With that said, the top 100 prospect’s physical tools were apparent over the two practices.

Christopher Vizzina a Top Performer at Elite 11 Finals

7/01/22

Christopher Vizzina had a strong week at the Elite 11 Finals and finished as On3's No. 2 overall Top Performer. His week was highlighted by a four touchdown, zero interception performance in 7-on-7 on Thursday. The Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian signal caller threw a touchdown on every drive. He had several high-level throws during the session, including a pretty corner route and a dart over the middle for the final score. Even of the misses were still impressive throws, including some aggressive deep shots. Similar to Kohl, we saw Vizzina adjust well to the presence of defensive backs, while others struggled with the speed. Vizzina showed a projectable physical skill set throughout the week. He’s all of 6-foot-4, 205 pounds. We came away thinking he had the best feet and drops on hand – something that shows up on film, as well.

Christopher Vizzina moves up to No. 20 overall in overhauled On300

In evaluating the quarterback group for this ranking a few weeks ago, we came to view Christopher Vizzina as the clear No. 4 quarterback in the cycle coming out of the junior season. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder has a well-rounded skill set with a strong arm and impressive play against some strong competition. Vizzina separates himself from some other top quarterback prospects in large part due to his translatable movement skills. The Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian signal-caller may have the best pocket movement we’ve seen among quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle. Vizzina is a twitchy, quick-footed mover in the pocket and has the speed to rip off long touchdown runs once he’s loose at the second level. He’s an ascending prospect who has only played quarterback for around three years, in addition to being younger than many of his peers. Vizzina was efficient as a junior at Briarwood Christian, hitting 68.4 percent of his passes for 2,065 yards (over 10.5 yards per attempt) 16 touchdowns and four interceptions, while rushing for 600 yards and 15 more scores.
