Personal Life
Jacksonville State's Rich Rodriguez counts Clay Webb as an "old-school” type of player. "I think Clay might be the only guy that still has a flip phone," Rodriguez said "Tuesday at Conference USA Media Day in Dallas. You know, that's how old school he is. Right?" Webb's type of phone isn't the only rarity about him. The redshirt senior also is a rare football talent. After spending 2019-21 at Georgia, he transferred to Jacksonville State and has blossomed. After the 2023 season, Webb was named a second-team All-American at guard by the Associated Press and was College Football Network's offensive guard of the year. "He transferred in from Georgia with the opportunity to play more, and he's gotten better every day," Rodriguez said. "He still hasn't played his best football yet. And Clay is one of the strongest guys on our team. … I'm glad he's getting recognition."
