Has good size, measuring at around 6-foot-3, 275 pounds with 34.75-inch arms. A gifted athlete with high-end speed at his size. Consistently ran in the 4.7's at college camps. Shows flashes dominance as a two-way standout at the high school level, playing tight end and defensive line. Has the athleticism to run down plays in pursuit and the closing speed to finish plays behind the line with authority. A big threat down the seam at tight end and is talented enough to play on offense in college. Can pull away from defensive backs in the open field. Extends and elevates to come down with grabs over the middle of the field. A very good high school basketball player who was the MVP of a state title team as a junior. Throws down emphatic dunks in transition. Unrefined technically as a defensive lineman and should see improvement on that front once he focuses on the position at the next level. May need to adjust to the level of competition coming from a lower classification in high school.

Robinson product was a standout on the college camp circuit, impressing multiple SEC programs with his workouts, which featured multiple sub-4.8 second 40-yard dash times at around 6-foot-4 and 270 pounds. That top-notch athleticism has seamlessly transferred over to the field as a senior. Hobbs has been dominant as a two-way player early on. He runs away from defensive backs in the open field as a wide receiver and tight end. We’ve also seen some burgeoning skills as a pass rusher. Hobbs has registered a few big games on the defensive side, showing some rare traits with his ability to bend and burst in short areas at his size. While he’s still developing, we currently feel Hobbs’ upside is as high as any defensive lineman in the cycle.

Daevin Hobbs scored all 15 points for his Concord (N.C.) Jay M. Robinson team in his senior season debut against Charlotte Independence – a school with over 1,400 more students.The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder showed off rare movement skills and overall coordination for a prospect of his size. Hobbs got things going early on with an eye-popping 60-yard catch and run, extending for the ball over the middle of the field and out-racing the secondary for the score. Hobbs split out wide and come down with a jump ball on the two-point conversion. Later on he beat and beat 1-on-1 coverage down the sideline for a 65-yard gain. The second touchdown came on a direct snap that saw Hobbs beat defenders to to the corner. He also played significant snaps on defense making a handful of plays behind the line while also chasing down ball carriers downfield.

The North Carolina native jumped from No. 200 to 83 overall in the On300. He is one of the more athletic and high-end jumbo athletes in the 2023 cycle. Hobbs excels above the rim on the hardwood and took home team MVP honors on a state championship hoops squad. The 6-foot-4, 257 pounder makes uber-athletic plays at defensive end and tight end on Friday nights. He possesses an 80-inch wingspan and big hands. He’s also a quick initial mover with the agility to get small when needed and pursue from the backside. His ability to close in on the football stands out. Hobbs was a productive player in 2021 with 20 tackles for loss. His best football is way out in front of him.
