As a College Recruit

Energetic defensive lineman who plays with a quick initial burst. Combines quickness, fast hands and effort level to create disruption behind the line of scrimmage. Shows some violent tendencies at the point of attack. Muscular and physically developed, particularly throughout his upper body. Not an overly nuanced pass rusher at this stage. Tests as a strong athlete at his size and position, running an electronically-timed sub-5.0 second 40-yard dash prior to his senior season. Doubles as a talented basketball player. Junior season was cancelled due to COVID-19 and missed a portion of his senior season with a dislocated elbow.

Dani Dennis-Sutton is a little more developed than Preston Smith coming out of Stephenson (Ga.) Stone Mountain in the 2011 cycle. We still ultimately see Dennis-Sutton becoming a similar style player to Smith as a big, powerful defensive end with plus athleticism. Dennis-Sutton is around 6-foot-5, 250 pounds and has the room to continue adding mass once he’s in Penn State’s strength program. Smith was around 6-foot-5, 271 pounds at the NFL Combine after four years at Mississippi State.

Dani Dennis-Sutton a top performer at All-American Bowl

Charles Power

We didn’t get to see Dani Dennis-Sutton take quite as many reps as Mykel Williams or Marvin Jones Jr. over the course of the All-American Bowl week, but the Penn State commit impressed on snap-by-snap basis. Dennis-Sutton had an outstanding showing in 1-on-1’s on the first practice. He followed that up by being disruptive in Saturday’s game. He easily beat Ohio State signee George Fitzpatrick for a big sack in the first half. We also saw Dennis-Sutton show off some explosive strength in setting the edge. The future Nittany Lion is a high energy prospect with impressive speed-to-power.
