Dante Moore earns 5th star from On3

Charles Power

Dante Moore (No. 20) earns his fifth star in large part due to a great showing at the All-American Bowl. The UCLA signee was the top quarterback on hand all week, by a fairly sizable margin. Moore has an argument as the most polished passer in the cycle with an easy, natural release and high-end accuracy in every setting.

Dante Moore looked like the top quarterback in San Antonio during practices and took his game to another level in Saturday’s game. The 6-foot-1.5, 205-pounder showed off his advanced, nuanced passing skill set during live action, making easy work of the outmatched West defense. Moore completed 14 of 19 passes for 156 yards and four touchdowns. He threw strikes to Ohio State signee Brandon Inniss and LSU signee Jalen Brown on the first drive. Moore later connected with Inniss on a beautifully thrown corner route for a touchdown. His best throw of the day came on a pass to Ohio State wide receiver signee Carnell Tate – Moore stood tall in the pocket and dropped it in a bucket over the middle of the field while throwing off his back foot and taking a hit. The UCLA signee is his best when delivering quick hitters across the middle of the field from the pocket. He showed very good zip on passes to the intermediate portion of the field along with a quick processor in live situations. Moore has a pliable arm with the ability to deliver from multiple angles. Overall, Moore made it look easy as you’d hope to see from a top quarterback.

Dante Moore a Top Performer at Elite 11 Finals

Charles Power

Dante Moore‘s refined and polished skill set as a passer continued to shine on Thursday. Moore had the strongest 7-on-7 session prior to JJ Kohl or Christopher Vizzina, with On3 charting him on target on 16 of 19 passes for four touchdowns and zero interceptions. He continued to showcase the quick release, accuracy and approach we saw in at OT7 earlier in the month. Moore is advanced as a quick game and intermediate passer. He rarely throws the ball up for grabs and takes what the defense gives him. We saw the Detroit Martin Luther King signal caller also mix in a few timely deep shots with a few going for scores.

The strong showing in 7-on-7 work capped over a very good week for Moore, which also included Day 2 On3 MVP honors. He’s a pure pocket passer who is one of the better in-structure operators in the 2023 cycle.

Dante Moore a top performer at Overtime OT7 7-on-7

Dante Moore was the clear No. 2 quarterback on the weekend after Nico Iamaleava. Moore lead his Cam Newton C1N team to within a drive of the tournament title. His quick release and ball location stood out over the course of the weekend. Moore didn’t take many downfield shots in his team’s offense, but constantly kept the chains moving with well-placed short and intermediate passes. Even though he typically threw within 15 yards downfield, we did see Moore push the ball vertically a few times on Sunday, with a deep ball touchdown to to Cayden Lee standing out. The Detroit Martin Luther King standout could’ve pushed higher on this list, but had a few throws he’ll want back over the course of the day, including three interceptions on conversion attempts. Still, Moore certainly turned in a positive showing at OT7.

Moore was the On3 MVP to open the OT7 tournament in Vegas and was either the best – or amongst the best – in a star-studded event from start to finish. Moore’s C1 team cruised to the finals due mainly to Moore’s consistent high-level play. The five-star played with poise throughout the week. He has the ability to quickly diagnose defenses and makes excellent decisions with an absolutely live arm. Moore gets the ball out very quickly and is extremely sharp. He was efficient in taking what defenses were giving up and took calculated chances to move C1 downfield.

Dante Moore junior season evaluation

Charles Power

Dante Moore has been considered of the top quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle dating back to his freshman season at Detroit Martin Luther King. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is an accurate pocket passer with a quick release. Moore is a highly efficient quarterback at the high school level. We saw the game continue to slow down for him this fall, completing 73 percent of his passes for over 3,000 yards, 40 touchdowns and three interceptions as he led MLK to a state title. There’s no questioning Moore’s output at the high school level. His ranking ceiling will likely be dictated by what he shows from a movement skills and athleticism perspective over the next year.

Dante Moore accounts for four touchdowns in playoff win

Charles Power

Dante Moore lead his Detroit Martin Luther King team to a 33-12 playoff win over River Rouge (Mich.) High on Friday night. Moore showed off a quick release and some natural passing skills. He was accurate and showed nice touch on two fade throws that both went for touchdowns. Moore also excels in the quick passing game with his ability to get the football out of his hand in a flash. He didn’t take too many downfield shots and finished the game 13 of 17 for 207 yards and three touchdowns along with another short rushing touchdown. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder looks to be more of a pocket passer at the next level. He doesn’t appear to be as strong of an athlete as several of his highly-rated contemporaries in the 2023 cycle.
