Personal Life
Darnell Wright was an On3 Five-Star Plus+ recruit coming out of Huntington (West Virginia) High School in the 2019 recruiting class. He ranked as the No. 6 player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Wright broke into the starting lineup at Tennessee in the 2019 season. He continued to see time as a starter in 2020, including starting nine out of 10 games. Wright then emerged as one of the best blockers in college football during the 2021 season, starting all 13 games and playing more snaps than anybody else on the Volunteers’ roster. By his senior season, he became the SEC’s best offensive tackle, earning unanimous first-team All-SEC honors as selected by the Associated Press and coaches. He leaves Tennessee without allowing a sack in 19 consecutive games. Wright’s mother is Kimberly Adams. He majored in communications studies at Tennessee.
