As a College Recruit
David Castillo is a consummate leader on the floor. He takes care of the ball as the lead guard and can knock down shots consistently, with range. While his game is not as dynamic as other guards, his value lies in making basketball plays and enhancing the play of those around him. He is a sturdy guard. The shooting is real so there is comfort with him off the ball as well, in multi-guard line-ups. He understands positioning on defense and gives good effort on that end. Long term you wonder about the height and the explosive pop, but there are a lot of winning attributes that he will carry with him to college.

USA Basketball Junior National Team Minicamp
David Castillo competed today. We saw that from start to finish. He also made shots at a high clip, especially off ball rotations, off the catch. Castillo didn’t touch the paint much, and there were some struggles finishing at the rim, but he put the ball in great spots for his teammates and he didn’t turn it over. Overall, a very solid camp for Castillo.
