As a Recruit
Personal Life
Devin Sanchez has athleticism in his DNA. His mother, Deetra, was a 200- and 400-meter sprinter at UTEP. His father, Daniel, played football at UTEP and still coaches high school football in the Houston area. Sanchez takes after his mother with his speed. He is known as one of the fastest players in the Lone Star State with a personal best 10.8 second 100-meter time. He also anchored North Shore’s 4-by-100, 4-by-200 and 4-by-400 relay teams, guiding the last two to the regional finals. “Education is really important to us,” Daniel Sanchez told Our Esquina. “My wife and I being former athletes, we both understand sports is another avenue to open up opportunities. We push it. All it can do is open doors.” Sanchez first burst onto the Texas high school football scene as a freshman at powerhouse North Shore. He earned playing time in the 2021 state championship season and then earned all-everything honors in a 2022 season that ended with a heartbreaking loss in the state title game. “Not many sophomores get to start on varsity, especially here in Texas where the ball is the best in the country," Sanchez told Vype. "Playing in a state championship against Duncanville last year was eye-opening. After that, I realized I could be one of the top DBs in the country.”

Reminds Us Of

Devin Sanchez's high end combination of size, length and top-end speed reminds us of Christian Gonzalez. Both have similar stature, length and athleticism at the same stage. Gonzalez was thicker and played more on offense and special teams, while Sanchez is more polished as a corner at the same stage.
