Ellis Robinson IV Scouting Summary

Charles Power

4/18/22

Ball-hawking cornerback with plus length, ball skills and refined movement skills. Has shown the ability to make high-level plays on the ball throughout his high school career. Measured close to 6-feet, 175 pounds prior to his senior season. Has plus length for the position with arms that measure a shade under 33 inches. Dominated competition in New York’s Catholic league as a sophomore, bringing in eight interceptions. Made several impressive, acrobatic picks. Moved to IMG Academy as a junior, where he looked like the top defensive back on the Ascenders' loaded roster. Made strides as a junior relative to his technical skills. Pairs his length and ball skills with refined footwork. Understands routes and generally stays in phase. Embraces matchups against top receivers and is willing to get physical at the line of scrimmage. Also tests as a good athlete in the combine setting. While his speed is good, he does not register as elite for the position. Can continue getting stronger and adding good mass once in a college strength program.

Ellis Robinson IV named On3 MVP at Under Armour All-America week

Charles Power

1/03/24

Ellis Robinson IV entered Under Armour All-America week as one of the top-ranked players on hand and more than lived up to the lofty billing. The 6-foot, 175-pounder turned in a truly sensational performance on Day 3, picking of at least three passes earning – including an outstanding one-handed pick – en route to earning On3 MVP honors. Robinson locked horns with Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Cam Coleman on multiple occasions and was the lone defensive back to have consistent success against the elite pass-catcher. This is after arriving to the game late after being in Miami for Georgia’s Orange Bowl win. Robinson has outstanding length and is a smooth technician at the position. His polish and ball skills were readily apparent throughout the week as he was consistently able to get his hands on passes. Robinson particularly excelled when operating in tight quarters in the red zone. We were also impressed with his mentality and approach to practice. It was clear that Robinson was in Orlando to work and get better. He took a ton of reps and didn’t back down from a challenge. It wasn’t a perfect week, but Robinson showed a short memory on any occasion where he gave up a completion and rebounded to play his best when it mattered mos

Ellis Robinson shuts down receivers at OT7 Finals

Charles Power

6/18/23

Ellis Robinson IV looked the part of the top defensive back prospect on hand at the OT7 Finals. The Georgia pledge was not tested often, but made a play nearly every time he was targeted. Robinson had two interceptions in limited play on Friday and completely locked down his side of field in knockout play on Sunday. We’re not sure he surrendered a catch on the day. Robinson had a diving break up while covering a slant route and had another pivotal pass break up, leaping to deflect a game-winning Hail Mary attempt. His feel for coverage, technical skills, quick feet and plus length make for a well-rounded skill set. We’ve seen some touted corners struggle in this setting in recent years, but that was not the case here. Robinson lived up to his five-star billing.

Ellis Robinson IV adds fifth star from On3

Charles Power

10/17/22

Ellis Robinson IV earned his fifth star from On3 in the midseason rankings update for the 2024 cycle. The New Haven, Connecticut native transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his junior season. His length, coverage ability and ball skills have made him a touted prospect for some time, and were enough to merit a fifth star, in our opinion.
