As a Recruit
Personal Life
Isheem Young was an On3 Consensus three-star recruit coming out of Philadelphia Imhotep High School in the 2019 recruiting class. He was originally committed to Penn State, but the Nittany Lions parted ways with him after pleading guilty to participating in a robbery at a Philadelphia Wawa. Young’s case was sent to juvenile court after he agreed to plead guilty to several charges, including robbery and conspiracy, in connection with the July 2017 incident. He went on to sign with Iowa State in February 2019. He made an impact for the Cyclones after a redshirt season. Young was named the Big 12 Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year, honorable mention All-Big 12 by the league coaches and first-team Academic All-Big 12 honors. He led the Big 12 freshmen tacklers with 50 and he also led the Big 12 with three forced fumbles. Young was then fourth on the Cyclones with 56 tackles in 12 games during the 2021 season. He entered the Transfer Portal after the 2021 season and eventually picked Ole Miss. He was a preseason All-America pick entering the 2022 season.
