As a College Recruit

Jump ball fiend who is an absolute menace when it comes to 50-50 balls. Long and lean athletic build with plenty of room to grow. Stands in at 6-foot-4, over 170 pounds with a 6-foot-8 wingspan. Jumped a freaky 34-inch vertical for his size during the spring camp circuit prior to his junior season. Body positioning and balance is second to none compared to other X-type receivers in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Natural pass catcher who has strong hands and plucks the ball with ease. Totaled 76 catches for 990 yards and 14 touchdowns during his junior campaign. Solid twitch for his size, can get off the line of scrimmage. Lacks top end speed in order to separate from defenders when pushing vertically. Will be a significant redzone threat at the next level and can see his NFL stock rise as he gets stronger and more explosive with a collegiate strength and conditioning program.

Ja'Kobi Lane turns in strong showing at Overtime OT7

Charles Power

Ja’Kobi Lane has long been considered a top target on the 7-on-7 circuit, so while his performance at OT7 wasn’t necessarily surprising, it is notable. The 6-foot-5 target made a ton of plays on the ball while playing for Tucson Turf over the course of the weekend. Lane has a large catch radius and strong hands at the catch point. He also showed some encouraging movement skills both in the route and after catch phases.

Lane is a gifted receiver that can not only take the top off a defense but create severe mismatches across the formation.
The Mesa (Ariz.) Red Mountain four-star was among the best deep-ball receivers in the tournament and also shined in the red zone with his frame advantage. Lane also flashed good hands throughout the weekend.
