As a College Recruit

One of the fastest players in the 2022 cycle, regardless of position. Has posted some scintillating track times, including a best of 10.37 seconds in the 100 meters. Plays quarterback for his high school but projects as a box defender and likely linebacker long term. Physically developed with a muscled-up build. Shows a very strong burst as a runner, getting to top speed quickly. Breaks off long runs with regularity and plays at a different speed than the competition. Also shows some considerable power and contact balance as a runner. Had a play where he ran over multiple defenders in the playoffs as a senior that went viral. Will need to adjust to defense and hone his coverage skills. May take a year or two to make the transition to defense but has high physical upside. Does not face strong competition in Kansas.

Jaren Kanak an On3 Rankings Outlier

Charles Power

We had a chance to see Kanak work out at Clemson's camp back in June. It's easy to see that the Hays (Kan.) native is a well-built athlete in that setting. Kanak is one of the fastest prospects in the 2022 cycle, running a smoking 10.37 seconds in the 100 meters. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder is a two-way multi-positional athlete in high school who projects as a linebacker/safety type in Clemson's defense.

Jaren Kanak impresses at Clemson camp

Charles Power

Jaren Kanak more than passed the eye test in working out at Clemson's camp. The native Kansan’s size checks out and he owns a well-built, chiseled physique. He worked out at both linebacker and safety under the watchful eye of defensive coordinator Brent Venables. Kanak showed some impressive change of direction and explosive burst in drills. This shouldn’t be a surprise given his athletic bona fides on the track. Kanak is a bit unpolished in coverage at this time. He's more of a multi-purpose athlete for his high school, but the physical traits are evident.
