As a College Recruit

Justin Edwards is a lefty. What you first notice about his game is the defense. He has long arms and really competes on that end. On the ball, in the passing lanes, he can switch up and down a line up and is not afraid to rotate over and take a charge. Offensively, there is a little more of a mixed bag. He moves well off the ball, a purposeful cutter. The jump shot is smooth, but inconsistent and you want to see more 1-2 dribble pull ups. You want to see him develop more craft off the bounce, maybe develop some counters or combo moves there. He is a good athlete, but you would like to see him employ that on the court. Edwards has a solid handle in the open floor, and is able to push the break off a change of possession. There is still some more upside with Edwards, and his confidence is growing by the game.

Justin Edwards has a high basketball IQ, understanding where to be on the court. His positioning may be his best attribute. Edwards is a good off ball cutter and he attacks in transition with a purpose. Defensively, he is a very good off ball defender. He anticipates well in the passing lanes and he rotates properly off ball. The handle was shaky here, lacking creativity off the bounce in the half court. He also continued to not make jump shots. The form and load look good, the release comes off at all angles. He is a good rebounder for a wing and quickly can turn defense into offense.

He finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds. He was 4-11 FG.

Kentucky signee Justin Edwards has a smooth and fluid game. Nothing is really rushed in his game. He is a good team defender, using his length in the passing lanes. Would like to see Edwards create better off a live dribble. The release is smooth on the jumper, but his balance can get knocked off, in game. He makes the extra pass and wins a lot of 50-50 balls.
