As a College Recruit

Productive runner for one of the top high school programs in Texas. Has the skill set to project as an every down back. Owns a solid, compact build at around 5-foot-10, 195 pounds. Instinctive runner with vision and balance. Does a nice job reading second level defenders and can set his runs up due to his field vision. Stout base allows him to run through arm tackles at the second level. Rushed for 1,448 yards and 18 touchdowns at 6.9 yards per carry as a junior while facing strong competition. Long speed appears to be average both on the field and in track. Has a shorter, choppy stride. May not have the burst or big-play flash of some other blue-chip backs, but has a well-rounded overall skill set.

Kalib Hicks morphing into power rusher for Denton Ryan

On300 running back Kalib Hicks has been one of the big reasons why Denton (Texas) Ryan has been such a dangerous offense the past three seasons. Hicks has given a Ryan a jolt a big-framed back with speed as an underclassman, and as a senior the Oklahoma commit has been even more impactful between the tackles. Hicks has filled out his 6-foot frame and is well north of 200 pounds, about 15 more than as a junior for Ryan. Not only is he hard to arm tackle, Hicks ripped off a handful of 10+ yard runs against a stout Aledo front. He’s able to run through contact and run hard with enough speed to still break away at the end of runs.
