Kelis Fisher credits a lot of her success in basketball to battles she had with her older brother, Malik, on the court and also playing NBA 2K against him on Xbox. The video game battles were taken seriously in the Fisher household. They talked trash and both were sore losers. They’d play for hours until they took the competition outside in the alley nearby the family’s home in Baltimore. "We would just be up all night playing games and I would just go downstairs, bouncing the ball because I always had a ball in my hands," Fisher told CT Insider. "I learned how to mimic the moves I saw on 2K and adapt them into my own game." Fisher’s IMG Academy coach Shell Dailey said the hard work paid off. "She works her tail off and what people don’t understand, she earned the right to commit early," Dailey said. "She’s gonna be that kid that’s gonna be ready to meet whatever challenges that come."
