Scouting Journals for Kolaj Cobbins

Kolaj Cobbins is active off the edge vs. East St. John

Sam Spiegelman • National Recruiting Analyst

10/28/22

On3 Consensus top-200 EDGE Kolaj Cobbins brings rare speed to the outside linebacker position. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Cobbins is a freight train patrolling to the sideline against outside runs and is equally as persistent in applying pressure to the quarterback. Cobbins came away unofficially with a pair of sacks and even more pressures on the quarterback while also keeping him contained as a runner outside the pocket. Cobbins is still developing as a pass-rusher but is as talented and intriguing with his combination of size, speed and most importantly, his motor. He’s also excellent at defending the run as there is in the South.

Kolaj Cobbins has two sacks, more pressures Week 2 vs. John Ehret

9/09/22

On300 junior EDGE Kolaj Cobbins came away with a pair of sacks facing a run-heavy Marrero (La.) John Ehret offense without its starting quarterback. Cobbins fires off the ball and has excellent speed to take away outside runs and patrol the perimeter, not to mention his closing speed. His first-step quickness resulted in a handful of quarterback hits and the pressure alone was noteworthy. Cobbins plays with a different gear with length and has all the tools to be a prolific disrupter off the edge against the run and as a pass-rusher

5/17/22

On300 2024 EDGE Kolaj Cobbins was among the most productive defenders in-state as a sophomore collecting 60 tackles, 12 sacks and eight forced fumbles, and in the process flashing special speed patrolling from sideline to sideline. During the spring game, Cobbins continued to shine with arguably the quickest first step in the state off the edge. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder is equally as impressive in pursuit of the ball.
