Nick Emmanwori makes big jump in rankings after prolific senior season
Nick Emmanwori earned an offer from South Carolina after a strong showing at one of the Gamecocks’ summer camps. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder ripped off a sub-4.6 second 40-yard dash and hit 37 inches in the vertical jump. Emmanwori initially played as a hybrid safety at Irmo (S.C.) High but looks to be settling in – and thriving – as a linebacker this fall. The versatility and production match the size and athleticism. Emmanwori was a tackling machine this fall, racking up 166 solo tackles and 17 tackles for loss. The first thing that jumps out is the sideline-to-sideline speed. He’s shown the ability to defend the run in the box with impressive take-on strength and tackling skills. We also see Emmanwori rush the passer off the edge and as a blitzer. To cap things off, he’s more than comfortable in coverage and can run with slot receivers downfield.
