Personal Life
Ray Davis arrived at Kentucky after spending the 2022 and 2021 seasons at Vanderbilt and playing for Temple in 2020 and 2019. It was at Vanderbilt where he emerged as one of the SEC's better running backs. During the 2022 season, he rushed for 1,042 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games. And even though he moved on to Lexington, he received plenty of praise from Vandy coach Clark Lea. “He’s got good vision, good feet," Lea said. He’s got a knack for finding the space. He’s got a knack for knowing when to cut back and get against the grain and break the long one. He’s also a really good receiver in the pass game and we saw that when he was here." Davis garnered national attention for the Wildcats when he tallied 280 yards against the Florida Gators – including 206 yards in the first half alone. Davis is now among the likes of Herschel Walker, Willis McGahee and Marcus Lattimore as the only running backs who have rushed for 200-plus yards against the Gators. His 280 yards were the second-most ever against Florida. Davis was originally ranked as a three-star running back recruit in the 2019 class coming out of Blair Academy in New Jersey.
