Personal Life
When you’re the son of Deion Sanders, one of the most iconic football players over the past quarter century, it’s hard to blaze your own path in life. But Shedeur Sanders has done that and then some while playing for his father at Jackson State and Colorado. While at Jackson State, Sanders became the first HBCU player to ever receive the Jerry Rice Award, given annually to the most outstanding freshman player in FCS football. Then during his first season at Colorado, Sanders was named the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year by the Associated Press, first-team All-Transfer by On3 and The Athletic and All-Pac-12 honorable mention by the coaches and College Football Network after the 2023 season. He threw for 3,230 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2023. “I’m just proud of his maturity and who he is on and off the field,” Deion Sanders told The Undefeated. Off the field, Shedeur Sanders is one of the most influential athletes in college athletics. He has millions of followers on social media and is one of the biggest stars in the NIL Era. "I like to put on a show," Sanders said ahead of the 2024 season. "You can't be afraid of the moment."
