As a Recruit
Personal Life
Thomas Gore was an On3 Consensus three-star recruit coming out of Brentwood (Tennessee) Academy in the 2019 recruiting class. Gore signed with Georgia State out of high school, turning down offers from Middle Tennessee State, Navy, Coastal Carolina, Austin Peay and other programs. At Georgia State, Gore played part-time on the EDGE and part-time at nose guard. Panther coaches complimented him throughout his career for his relentlessness. And that’s something he prides himself on. “When you play in the trenches, it’s man-to-man, and if I’m not aggressive, they’re going to win,” Gore said. “You have to be like a bull in a china shop.” During the 2021 season, Gore was the highest-graded interior defensive lineman in FBS competition, according to Pro Football Focus, which calculated that he totaled the third-most defensive stops at the position. He finished with 45 total tackles – sixth best on the team – 9½ tackles for loss, 2½ sacks and one hurry in 13 games. He backed that up with repeat All-Sun Belt honors in 2022, recording 38 tackles, eight tackles for a loss and five sacks. After the 2022 season, Gore entered the Transfer Portal.
