TJ Moore Scouting Summary

Charles Power

8/31/23

Savvy receiver with translatable technical skills and functional athleticism. Measured in at over 6-foot-2, 180 pounds as a junior. Showed improved athleticism as a junior, posting a 11.13 second mark in the 100 meters along with a 6-3 foot high jump. Turned in a strong junior campaign, catching 42 passes for 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns. Averaged over 24 yards per catch. Technically advanced. A natural hands catcher who frames catches with good form. Has high end ball skills with the ability to come down with acrobatic grabs. Makes impressive one-handed catches. Easily tracks the ball over his shoulder. A bouncy and light footed mover. Drops his weight and uses lateral agility to break off defensive backs as a route-runner. Shows the ability to maximize yardage after the catch. May not have a truly overwhelming facet to his game but is skilled in about every facet. Younger for the cycle with an April birthday. Projects as a high floor outside receiver prospect.

TJ Moore earns fifth star in final On300 Rankings

1/29/24

Clemson wide receiver signee TJ Moore (No. 13) was a no-brainer addition to the five-star ranks. The Tampa (Fla.) Catholic product sat at No. 33 for On3 entering the final update and erased any doubt with a show-stopping week at the All-American Bowl. At 6-foot-2.5, 195 pounds, Moore has a technical skill set that is rivaled only by Jeremiah Smith among fellow 2024 wideouts. Moore had the most consistent hands we saw from any receiver – he’s a natural plucker of the football and made a number of highlight reel grabs. He’s also easily one of the top route-runners in the cycle, easily breaking off cornerbacks with his change of direction. What we saw in San Antonio further validated what we saw from Moore up to that point. His skill level, production – 50 receptions for 1,272 yards and 17 touchdowns – and athleticism are that of a five-star prospect.

TJ Moore put on a technical show all week at the All-American Bowl, capped off with a sensational showing in Saturday’s game. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder was a nearly impossible cover all week for defensive backs, due to his combination of elite ball skills and refined route-running. No receiver at the All-American Bowl showed stronger ball skills than more The Tampa (Fla.) Catholic product. Moore’s feathery soft hands and ability to pluck the ball in contested situations was evident on each day of practice. He was a standout on Day 1, drawing audible gasps from onlookers with several emphatic 1-on-1 reps. If the ball was thrown up for grabs, Moore nearly always came down with the catch. With that said, the Clemson signee is far from a one-trick pony. We saw outstanding route polish over the course of the week. Moore has a deep bag of double moves. He’s an easy, functional mover and changes directions well. A prolific receiver on Friday nights with a good athletic profile, Moore has a strong overall resume, cemented by a sensational showing in San Antonio. Don’t be surprised to see him get on the field and make an impact early as a true freshman at Clemson
