Scouting Journals for Toriano Pride

Toriano Pride Scouting Summary

Charles Power

11/15/21

Explosive corner with outstanding reactive quickness in man coverage. Tested as one of the more athletic cornerbacks in the cycle in the combine setting. Shorter than some of the other top corners at around 5-foot-11 but has compensatory length with a 6-foot-4 wingspan. Has turned in a very strong senior season after transferring to powerhouse East St. Louis. Plays very fast while staying under control. Stays in-phase and shows a high-end ability to read routes and break on the ball. Playing like one of the top corners in what is a very strong cycle at the position.

Pride playing strong as a senior

We were higher than most on Clemson commit Toriano Pride in the initial On300, ranking the East St. Louis (Ill.) cornerback No. 67. That was not high enough. Pride has been dominant thus far and has put together arguably the best cornerback video we've seen from the senior seasons thus far. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder flashes top-end feet and ability to redirect in coverage. He's in receivers' hip pockets and does an outstanding job of staying attached throughout the route. Pride has very strong athletic markers and also has considerable length in addition to his stellar play thus far.

Toriano Pride shows out against national power

Toriano Pride also had a strong outing in the loss to nationally-ranked Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco. Like Burden, Pride transferred into the program for his senior season. Pride locked down his side of the field from what we saw. He did a great job of mirroring Bosco receivers off the line and staying attached downfield. The Bosco offense had trouble consistently hitting passes and Pride played a big part in that.
