Eugene Wilson III
Florida Gators
Personal Life
Through his first few seasons at Gaither, Eugene Wilson III developed into one of the most explosive playmakers in the Sunshine State. His coach, Kirk, Karsen, said Wilson has become the team’s most valuable player. “He is our leader and the heartbeat of our team,” Karsen said. “We were a completely different team when he is on the field. The energy he brings makes our team feel like we can win any game.” In 2021, Wilson racked up 62 catches for 925 yards. Wilson missed part of his senior season with a turf toe injury, but he returned in time for the playoffs. “I never really looked at myself as a type of quitter," Wilson said. "I always called myself a fighter, but, really after being able to come back and put up numbers I have, I really feel I live up to that.”
As a College Recruit
Silky smooth mover at receiver with elite change of direction skills. Looks like of the quicker and more fluid receivers in the cycle. Measured around 5-foot-11, 165 pounds prior to his senior season. Had an illuminating performance at the Under Armour Next Miami Camp in the spring prior to his senior season. Has the skills to consistently separate against top corners. Possesses elite change of direction and short area quickness, which shows up in his route-running, which is among the best in the cycle. Also has verified top-end speed with an electronically-timed sub-4.5 40-yard dash. Also flashed high end ball skills with the ability to track and high-point both as a receiver and cornerback on Friday nights. Could also play defense. Turned in a strong senior season, averaging 109 receiving yards and 1.6 touchdowns per game, while also picking off five passes. A bit of a late-bloomer physically, having grown an inch in his junior year. Father Eugene Wilson starred at Illinois and won two Super Bowls as a safety for the New England Patriots.
