Personal Life

Tyler Betsey was one of the most prolific shooters on Nike’s EYBL Circuit in the summer of 2022, shooting 40% from beyond the arc. “My handle is becoming a weapon,” Betsey told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “I’ve got a bigger role on my high school team than I had in AAU, but I’ve got a lot more moves in my bag. I’m getting downhill and getting to the free-throw line a lot this season. I watch a lot of Paul George, he is 6-foot-10, and he really has a handle. He knows how to use it, get to his spots and get buckets.” Betsey began his high school career at Windsor (Connecticut) High School before transferring to St. Thomas More to play under local legendary coach Jere Quinn. Quinn said it only took a few minutes for him to realize that Betsey was special. “I watched him for a half hour,” Quinn told The Day. “He’s a high-level player. Tyler is a wonderful young man and he’s responding. What’s nice about Tyler, the reason he has a chance is he’s a hard worker. He’s exactly where he needs to be. He needs to play in a competitive game all the time.”
