On3 DB / Tyler Booker

As a College Recruit

Versatile, competitive offensive lineman who thrives as a mauling drive blocker in the run game. Started as a right tackle for national power IMG Academy as an underclassman before moving to left tackle as a sophomore. Has outstanding length with a near 7-foot wingspan and big hands. Locks on defensive lineman and ferociously works to finish blocks. Shows impressive upper body strength at the point of attack. Plays with high energy on a snap by snap basis. A good, not elite athlete for the position. Tends to bend at the waist and lunge at times in pass protection. Likely projects as an interior offensive lineman at the next level given his skill set. Still has positional versatility with experience at both tackle spots to be a swing tackle if needed. Has been a leader for the IMG program for a few seasons.

Tyler Booker and Alex Leatherwood share several similarities, aside from the Alabama connection. Both measured at nearly the exact same size as high school prospects, within one pound (6-foot-5, 326, 327 pounds). Booker may actually be a touch longer than Leatherwood, who was a Five-Star Plus+ prospect in the 2017 cycle. The younger lineman is also more technically polished at the same stage. Both are good, but not top athletes at the position and have the versatility to play multiple spots on the offensive line at tackle or guard. The ready-made size and play strength allow for a high floor and the ability to contribute early on as a college player. We saw Leatherwood pressed into action as a true freshman at Alabama, playing left tackle during the College Football Playoff Final. It would not be a surprise to see Booker in the mix early on in his collegiate career either.

Tyler Booker named On3 MVP at Under Armour All-America Game

Charles Power

Tyler Booker was the top offensive lineman throughout out the week of practices and was dominant during the game. Booker worked at both tackle spots and guard for Team Icons throughout the week and mainly played at left guard during the game. The 6-foot-5, 325-pounder showed a very well-rounded skill-set. Booker is both highly technical and strong at the point of attack. He showed the ability to quickly neutralize opposing defensive linemen’s hands with deft technique. In the game, he was a mauling presence as a run blocker. We saw Booker pancake current On3 Consensus five-star Travis Shaw in the first quarter. The only in-game blemish for Booker came when he gave up a sack to Missouri signee Marquis Gracial in the second quarter. We also saw Booker lock horns with Walter Nolen inside towards the end of the game. Booker looks like the most ready to play offensive linemen we saw throughout the week. Booker is a high-floor, strong, long lineman who plays with outstanding smarts.

Tyler Booker shows off run blocking skills in season opener

Charles Power

Alabama offensive line commit Tyler Booker sprung several long gains from his left tackle spot in an opening win American Heritage. He had a big block on a touchdown that was called back for a questionable holding call. Booker is a physical run blocker who plays with great effort. He’s certainly further along in the run game than as a pass protector but showed well for the most part in that regard after making the move to left tackle. The top 100 prospect projects as a strong interior line prospect who could double as a swing tackle in a pinch.
