As a Recruit
Personal Life
Michigan coach Sherrone Moore doesn't hold back when heaping on the praise for Will Johnson. "He's the best corner in college football," Moore said. “The dude just doesn’t stop working. I gotta tell him sometimes, ‘Bro, you gotta chill.’ He’s not satisfied with anything. He’s not satisfied with hype. He’s not satisfied with any of that.” Johnson came to Michigan as a five-star recruit in the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the second-ranked corner in that class and the 16th-ranked player overall. In two seasons at Michigan, Will Johnson quickly became a key figure on the Michigan defense. During the 2023 and 2022 seasons, Johnson played in 26 games and had 54 total tackles, three of which were tackles for a loss. He also has seven interceptions, seven pass breakups, and a defensive touchdown. That included a big interception in the national title game victory over Washington. “It’s cool to be around those types of players because, usually, you’re pushing those players to be great, and when you have a guy like Will who has all the hype around him, who has all the postseason success from last year and he’s done it at the biggest stage and he’s made plays, but he doesn’t care," Moore said. "He just wants to work and get better. For me, it’s just cool to watch that. I’m just here to support him in any way I can.”
