A'ja Wilson breaks WNBA single-season scoring record vs. Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever
A’ja Wilson added another accolade to her resume on Wednesday, breaking the single-season scoring record with 940 and counting.
Taking on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on the road, a routine made 15-footer by Wilson in the second quarter WNBA rewrote history books. You can watch the special moment for the Las Vegas Aces star below:
Wilson surpasses Jewell Loyd, a former No. 1 overall pick who set the record last season for the Seattle Storm.
The Aces star is currently averaging 27.3 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.9 steals per game this season. Her squad is playoff bound with a 22-13 record coming into Wednesday, good for second place in the Western Conference.

After Wednesday’s matchup against Clark and the Fever, they’ll stay in Indiana awaiting Friday’s second game of a two-match series between the Aces and Fever. After leaving Indiana on Friday, they’ll have three games left on their regular season schedule before heading to the postseason in an attempt to become the first team to win three WNBA titles since the Houston Comets won the first four titles from 1997-2000.

Whether Wilson can lead the team to another title remains to be seen — but she gets to enjoy the all-time single season scoring title for the time being.
It’s just another feather in the cap of Wilson, who has been very busy in 2024. Not only did she help lead Team USA to a gold medal win in the Paris 2024 Olympics, but also signed with Nike and announced the arrival of her signature shoe. Not only that, but Wilson has dipped her toes in other major market sports brands such as Gatorade, which she has signed a multi-year deal with. She’s winning on and off the court.
For now, however, she’ll look to remind everyone who the current face of the WNBA is as she looks to lead the Aces past Caitlin Clark, who is viewed as the future of the league.
