Aliyah Boston scored her 1,000th career point in the first half against the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.

While fans have been enamored with the arrival of Caitlin Clark — who broke the rookie record for 3-pointers made in a single season in the same game — earlier this year, Boston has been putting in work in the paint for the Indiana Fever for the past two seasons.

The bucket came from an assist from Clark, who threaded the needle to find Boston in the paint for a 10-foot jumer.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, Boston averages 13.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game in her second season in the association. Those scoring totals are slighly down from her 14.5 average from one year ago, but the addition of Clark hasn’t effected her productivity since she joined the team.

A former South Carolina star, Boston totaled 1,942 points across four seasons playing for Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks.

During her time in college, Boston averaged a double-double, going for 14.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. She was named a three-time AP first-team All-American — something only an elite club of women’s college basketball players can say. Boston also earned second-team honors during her freshman season.

However, at the college level it took her until her junior year to surpass the 1,000-point threshold. Surpassing the mark in her second WNBA season, Boston has cemented herself as one of the premier bigs in the association. With Clark and Kelsey Mitchell helping run the show, the Fever have a lot to be excited about regarding their future.

For now, they’re sitting at 14-16 overall as they look to claw their way back to .500 heading into the back stretch of the season. After playing the Sun on Wednesday, nine games remain on the Fever’s schedule and sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference — Indiana is well on its way of achieving that goal.

Next up for the Fever is a matchup against the Chicago Sky on the road as fans will be treated to the next installment of the Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese rivalry, which dates back to their days at Iowa and LSU, respectively as Boston battles fellow Gamecock down low in Kamilla Cardoso.

Opening tip is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
