Angel Reese is still getting her feet wet in the WNBA after being drafted by the Chicago Sky. There have been some physical moments for the former LSU product, with the latest occurring on Saturday against the Connecticut Sun as Reese was on the receiving end of a hard foul of Alyssa Thomas.

Originally just called a normal foul, the officials went to the monitor and reviewed the play. They determined there was enough to throw Thomas out of the game, ending her night early. A big loss for Connecticut as Thomas had nine points, six rebounds, and five assists.

Reese was going up for a rebound and Thomas’ arm found itself around the head/neck area. After falling down to the ground, Reese looked around a little shocked before being helped up by her Chicago teammates.

You can check out the full moment here.

Thankfully, Reese was able to stay in the game and she will continue to play. Taking hard fouls on rookies is nothing new in the sport, with Caitlin Clark getting her fair share since joining in.

However, this one seemingly crossed the line and the officials decided to step in. An early night for Thomas as she will now cheer on from the locker room.

Angel Reese becomes co-owner of professional women’s soccer

As Angel Reese became a national name during her two seasons at LSU, she made sure to acknowledge her DMV roots. The Maryland native wanted to give back in her community in the Baltimore suburbs and repped her hometown while in Baton Rouge.

Now a member of the Chicago Sky in the WNBA, Reese is finding another way to make an impact on the Baltimore sports scene.

The D.C. Power Football Club, a professional women’s soccer team in the United Soccer League, announced Reese would be joining the franchise as a co-owner. The Power and USL are preparing for their inaugural season, and Reese is the first member of the team’s ownership group.

“Angel’s decision to be a founding investor alongside us in Power FC is groundbreaking,” said Jason Levien, D.C. United CEO and Co-Chairman, in a statement. “As a Maryland native, Angel is so passionate about being a catalyst for positive change in women’s sports in the DMV as well as globally while inspiring the next generation of female athletes. We’re looking forward to her partnership in the boardroom as an equity partner.”
