Aneesah Morrow was selected by the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA Draft on Monday night and is ready to go up against former LSU teammate Angel Reese. On3 attended a pre-WNBA Draft event featuring Morrow at the Raising Cane’s Astor Place in New York and asked her about playing against Reese when the 2025 WNBA season begins.

“Angel is a competitor, and so am I,” Morrow told On3 and other reporters at the event. “She helped me a lot while I was at LSU, and we were able to be like yin and yang, just having each other’s backs, especially on the boards while we were there. So it’d be interesting to get to see her play. Also playing against her as well and seeing how our games have changed.”

Aneesah Morrow and Angel Reese helped LSU reach the Elite Eight during the 2023-24 season. Both players were named to the All-SEC First Team in 2024, as Morrow averaged 16.4 points and 10 rebounds, while Reese averaged 18.6 points and 13.4 rebounds.

Aneesah Morrow says Raising Cane’s welcomed her with ‘open arms’

WNBA fans will see Morrow take on Reese four times this upcoming season. Resse is a member of the Chicago Sky, and the team will play the Sun on June 15, August 13, August 23 and September 3. Morrow is looking to have a similar rookie season as Reese, who was named to the All-Star and All-Rookie Team last year.

Raising Cane’s

Morrow was at Raising Cane’s before the draft because she worked a “shift” at the restaurant. Along with serving customers, the 22-year-old worked in the kitchen and ate some chicken tenders while filming promos. When speaking to reporters, Morrow talked about how Raising Cane’s helped her during her time at LSU.

“The LSU brand is the best, honestly, in my opinion,” Morrow said. “Cane’s took me in with open arms. I think it was like the first meal that I had when I first got on campus, honestly. When I went on my visit, everybody was chasing me down asking for autographs. So, for this to be the place that I’m at right before the draft is crazy, it’s like full circle.
