Angel Reese extends WNBA record with 11th straight double-double
Angel Reese continues to make WNBA history. The Chicago Sky rookie standout extended her double-double streak to 11 games Tuesday night against the Atlanta Dream.
Reese picked up her 10th rebound of the game with 5:39 to play in the third quarter, and just minutes after scoring her 10th point, added to her historic stretch. She broke Candace Parker’s previous record for most consecutive double-doubles in a season last time out against the Minnesota Lynx, and she added to it Tuesday.
All told, Reese finished with 12 points and a season-high 19 rebounds. She played a key role in helping the Sky to the 85-77 victory over the Dream to improve to 6-11 on the season.
Reese has been a bright spot for Chicago through an up-and-down start to the year. She entered Tuesday’s game averaging 13.3 points and 11.4 rebounds amid her strong start to her rookie year, which is also generating some Rookie of the Year buzz.
Through the WNBA Draft, the sense was Reese’s rebounding would help her find success at the next level. So far, that’s proving true, and Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon said the former LSU star is showing no sign of slowing down.
“She’s gonna continue to do what she does, that’s who she is, she’s always gonna come out and play hard and confident and give you everything that she has,” Weatherspoon said, via ESPN. “She’s the hardest person on herself, so proud of what she’s doing and what she’ll continue to do.”

Angel Reese continues to shine in WNBA spotlight
Through the month of June, Angel Reese and the Sky have been at the forefront of the WNBA conversation. They also played in two of the most-watched games of the year so far.
The headliner is the Sky’s victory over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on June 23 at Wintrust Arena. That game averaged 2.30 million viewers as Reese and the Sky defeated the Fever. It also passed the high mark set one week earlier when 2.25 million people tuned to CBS as Indiana got its second straight victory over Chicago.
Of course, it’s not just TV viewership skyrocketing with Clark, Reese and the rest of a decorated rookie class coming in. Ticket prices are also surging.
The ticketing platform Logitix said the resale price of a WNBA ticket has grown up to $87.75 through the first half of the WNBA 2024 season – compared to $50.10 during the 2023 season. Clark has played a role in that growth, with Fever road game tickets averaging $160.09. However, non-Fever games are up to more than $61 per ticket.
