Angel Reese makes Met Gala debut on her birthday
Angel Reese turned heads while appearing at the Met Gala on Monday night. The Chicago Sky and former LSU Tigers star was spotted wearing a sparkling white outfit at the annual event that features the biggest names in sports and Hollywood.
The 2024 Met Gala is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and celebrates the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” according to Vogue. It’s a charity event and fundraiser, and this year’s hosts are Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth.
Angel Reese is becoming big in the fashion world
Reese has made a name for herself on and off the court. Last year, Reese, who turned 22 on Monday, made her debut on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
“Angel Reese is a phenomenal basketball player,” Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editor in chief, MJ Day said at the time. “She’s an All-American and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament. While we’re of course here to celebrate her incredible achievements and athleticism, it wouldn’t be an SI Swimsuit moment if we weren’t shining a light on Angel’s achievements off the court.

“Angel is combating the double standard in sports, especially for women. She is making a name for herself as a fierce competitor and an equally fierce advocate for growing the game of women’s basketball. Her intensity, drive and passion around being unapologetically herself and speaking up for what she believes in is helping move the needle forward for women in sports and is liberating the next generation to feel seen and heard. Our goal here is to help empower as many women as we can and we’re beyond excited to do that alongside Angel Reese in the 2023 issue.”
Last month Reese was selected by the Sky at No. 7 overall in the WNBA Draft. “We are absolutely thrilled we were able to get Angel at seventh overall,” Chicago Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca said after the draft. “That was our hope. We have another incredibly competitive player in Chicago who fits our identity and culture of the city. She is a relentless rebounder, she is a national champion and an SEC Player of the Year and we cannot wait to see her here in Chi Town.”
Reese enters the WNBA after having a standout career at LSU. In 2023, Reese helped the Tigers win the national title and was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. This year, the Baltimore native was named SEC Player of the Year and helped the Tigers reach the Elite Eight.
