Angel Reese, Teresa Weatherspoon have hilarious reactions to Zoom call mishap in Chicago Sky press conference
An unmuted mic on a Zoom call led to an awkward moment in the Chicago Sky press conference on Sunday evening. Forward Angel Reese, coach Teresa Weatherspoon and guard Marina Mabrey were fielding questions following an 84-71 loss to the Seattle Storm.
One reporter was attempting to ask Reese about breaking the WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles when she was cut off. Another reporter’s microphone came on at the same time, causing Reese to ask the first journalist to repeat her question.
Then “that’s an uncomfortable topic” could clearly be heard from the second reporter. As Weatherspoon and the players struggled to make sense of what was happening, “I’ve never been interested in having an intimate relationship with anyone” was also heard on the call.
That led to some funny reactions from Reese and Mabrey, and you can view the moment below.
Although it might have seemed like the reporter who left their mic unmuted had some personal drama going on, it would all end up being a big misunderstanding. The audio heard was apparently from an episode of the “Big Bang Theory,” so we really just caught someone with some background TV on at work.
Still, the press conference moment provided some funny reactions from Chicago Sky players and an interesting watch if nothing else. The first reporter ultimately still got her question in to Reese as things returned to normalcy shortly after.

Angel Reese breaks WNBA record with 13th straight double-double
Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese recorded the second double-double of her WNBA career on June 4 in a WNBA Commissioner’s Cup matchup against the New York Liberty with 13 points and 10 rebounds. And ever since that day, Reese has started a streak that now sits atop the WNBA record books.
In the third quarter of Chicago’s Sunday matchup against the Seattle Storm, Reese cleaned up a missed layup by teammate Kamilla Cardoso with an offensive rebound and put-back layup to record her 11th point and 11th rebound of the game. Which officially made her the WNBA’s record holder for consecutive double-doubles with 13 on the season in her rookie year.
Reese was selected by the Chicago Sky with the No. 7 overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft this year following a standout college career at LSU and Maryland. She s averaging 13.9 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game so far in her rookie season, recently surpassing two-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson as the league’s leading rebounder.
